Fuerteventura Overview
Fuerteventura has a deserved reputation as being one of the quieter islands of the Canaries. Compared to Gran Canaria and Tenerife, that's certainly true. But if you're looking for great beaches, lush vegetation and a peaceful atmosphere, there's surely nowhere better. Featuring huge modern shopping centres and many bars and restaurants, the north is slightly more built-up than the south. That's not to say it doesn't have any delights of its own - the southern half of the island has a stunning nature reserve and desert-like sand dunes.
