If you can’t get enough of beach holidays then you’re in for a real treat during your visit to Matagorda, as it’s home to an excellent Blue-Flag beach that stretches along the coast for 1km. The golden sand is wonderfully soft and slopes gently into the clear blue waters that you won’t be able to resist jumping into.
There’s quite a strong breeze here also, making it perfect for windsurfing holidays. There is a promenade that runs along the rear of the beach giving you safe and easy access to different parts of the beach and the shops, restaurants and cafes that run along it.
Another great beach that’s close by is Papaygayo Beach. This beautiful beach is quite secluded, so you will only be able to access it on foot but it’s definitely worth it as it’s golden stretch of sand is protected within a cove, which helps to dampen the winds blowing in. It is however, a popular nudist beach, so if you’re not comfortable with nudity it may be best to avoid it.
You will find some fantastic restaurants here in Matagorda that serve an excellent range of different foods, so no matter how acquired your tastes may be, you are sure to find something that suits you.
Due to Matagorda being a resort that’s perfect for relaxing holidays, you won’t find much of a party scene here, as the social scene is very laid back. However, if you would like a more lively atmosphere but would rather stay in a peaceful area, the resort of Puerto del Carmen is just a short distance away, making it easy for you to have a lively night out on the town while still be able to escape back to the peacefulness of Matagorda once you’re done.
When it comes to shops, there is a small shopping centre in Matagorda but if you would like a bigger choice of shops, it’s worth travelling to one of the larger nearby resorts where you will be able to explore multiple shopping centres.
The lovely resort of Matagorda offers wonderfully hot summers with highs averaging at 29 degrees and surprisingly warm winters making it another fantastic resort that’s great all year round. You will also be able to enjoy warm temperatures throughout the night, as night time highs will sit in the high teens to low twenties, so don’t worry about bringing warm clothing as you won’t need it in the summer.

December remains quite warm with highs getting into the low twenties ut don’t expect to be able to go out at night in just shorts and tshirt as the temperature drops when the sun goes down to around 14 degrees, which can make things a little chilly.
Temperatures will start to rise again during the spring, which March seeing 23 degrees until the heat of the summer starts to set in.
No matter what time of the year you decide to visit, make sure that you keep plenty of sun lotion nearby, as the sun can quickly take you by surprise especially in the summer months and will have you looking like a broiled lobster in no time. It’s important to keep drinking as well, as the heat will be quick to dehydrate you and dehydration is definitely something that you should try and avoid at all costs.
