The resort of Taba is a small border town on Egypt’s border with Israel and although fairly small, it is usually very busy mainly due to it’s close proximity to the border crossing. But it’s not popular just because it’s convenient for many; it’s favoured by many due to its fantastic beaches and selection of excellent dive sites that can be found here. The dive sites include numerous coral reefs and sea life, which includes, barracuda’s, tuna, frogfish, turtles and many more species. The great weather continues through the autumn and into the winter where you will be greeted with average winter highs of around 18 degrees Celsius and winter highs reaching into the 20’s.
If you’re looking for beaches in Taba then pay a visit to Taba heights where you will find over 5km of beautifully golden coastline. Here you can either sit & relax while you get tanned or you can go for a swim in the amazingly clear waters of the Gulf of Aqaba. If you’re planning on getting wet during your visit to Taba then you’re probably thinking of visiting the many diving sites in the area. One of the most popular diving sites in Taba is known as the Aquarium, due to the unusual amount of sea life that lives there. You will get the chance to see all sorts including turtles, reef sharks, tuna, barracuda’s rays, goldfish and more. Also, keep an eye out for the funny looking frogfish. For more exhilarating water based activities there is windsurfing & parasailing, as well as canoe hire. This will give you lovely views of what lies beneath the ocean without having to get wet. If you’re not confident on the water, how about checking out the impressive Castle Zaman. Although this looks like a medieval castle, it is in fact a recent construction that was built with medieval architecture in mind. It houses a bar, restaurant, pool and treasure room.
Also in Taba Heights is a professional level 18-hole PGA Championship golf course. Take on the challenge of this 6,500-metre course and see how well you can do against the challenging greens and fairways. The views are spectacular too from all sides but don’t let them distract you, as it’s a difficult course designed for pros, so if you have little experience, it may be best to take a class or two from one of the on site tutors.
Although Taba is located on the north east side of the Sinai Peninsula, it still enjoys scorching summers and beautifully warm winters and also remains very dry throughout the year with very little cloud coverage. Average temperatures throughout the summer hang around the low 30’s and summer highs usually reach mid to high 30’s and can even exceed 40 degrees Celsius. This is the perfect weather for beach holidays and thankfully, you will have access to over 5km of golden beaches during your time in Taba. The excellent weather continues into autumn with boast similar highs. However, towards the end of autumn, you will notice a drop in temperature, which will then lead to the cooler winter temperatures coming in. Although it won’t be as high as the summer averages, you will still be able to enjoy time on the beach thanks to the winter averages staying around 18 degrees Celsius. Winter highs can even creep up to the low 20’s, so you definitely won’t be seeing snow in Taba anytime soon. If you’re thinking of escaping the chilly UK winter weather this year, why not make Taba your destination of choice and enjoy temperatures over the Christmas season that stay in double figures. Spring is also a lovely time to visit, as you will see a slight increase in temperatures throughout the season.
Chances are that you will want to explore the natural protected area just a short distance from the town centre. Due to its size, you will most likely be spending most of your day here, which is why it’s important to take care when spending time in the sun. The sizzling rays of the sun can get very intense even in the cooler winter months, which is why high factor sun cream is recommended for helping you avoid sunburn.
